The Planning Room are a town planning consultancy with specific expertise around resource consents in Auckland and nearby northern districts.

The company was founded by Logan Whitelaw, who left a management position in the Planning Division of the Auckland Council to work on the other side of the fence – using his expertise to help owners, builders and developers gain the resource consents they need.

“Because I know the tests and measures applied by the council, I can prepare resource consent applications that have a very good chance of being accepted,” says Logan.

“Equally, I can advise clients if their application is not likely to succeed. We pride ourselves on our high success rate and there is no point in clients wasting money to pursue a project that will not be accepted.”

His access to the decision makers means he can personally explain the situation to them if the application is particularly complex.

Logan holds a Master of Planning degree from Auckland University and worked in private practice before joining the former North Shore City Council in 2007.
